How to request account deletion and what happens to your data.

Deleting Your Account

If you need to close your EZShip account, here's what you need to know.

Before You Delete

Make sure:

  • All active shipments are completed or cancelled
  • All outstanding invoices are paid or settled
  • All pending disputes are resolved
  • You've downloaded any documents you need (invoices, tax docs, contracts)

How to Request Deletion

  1. Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account
  2. Select your reason for leaving (optional feedback helps us improve)
  3. Confirm your identity with your password
  4. Click Request Account Deletion

What Happens Next

30-Day Grace Period

  • Your account is deactivated immediately (you can't log in)
  • You have 30 days to change your mind and reactivate
  • To reactivate, contact support at sales@myfreightconnect.com

After 30 Days

  • Your account is permanently deleted
  • Personal data is removed from active systems
  • This action is irreversible

What Gets Deleted

  • Your profile information (name, email, phone)
  • Login credentials
  • Lane preferences and saved searches
  • Notification settings
  • Payment method details

What Gets Retained

Per legal and regulatory requirements, we retain for 7 years:

  • Transaction records and invoices
  • Shipping contracts and rate confirmations
  • Bills of Lading and Proof of Delivery
  • Tax documents (1099s, W-9s)
  • Communication logs related to disputes

This is required for DOT compliance, IRS regulations, and legal obligations.

Alternative to Deletion

If you just need a break:

  • Deactivate your account temporarily (Settings > Account > Deactivate)
  • Your data is preserved, and you can reactivate anytime
  • No new notifications or visibility to other users
