How to Post a Load
EZShip makes posting loads simple with our guided 4-step wizard. Here's everything you need to know.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- A verified shipper account
- Freight details (weight, dimensions, commodity type)
- Pickup and delivery addresses
- Your target shipping date
Step 1: Freight Details
Click Post a Load from your dashboard or the Loads menu.
Required fields:
- Load type — FTL (Full Truckload) or LTL (Less Than Truckload)
- Commodity — Select from our list or type a custom description
- Total weight — In pounds (lbs)
- Equipment type — Dry van, flatbed, reefer, step deck, lowboy, etc.
Optional fields:
- Dimensions — Length, width, height of freight
- Piece count — Number of pallets, crates, or pieces
- Special handling — Hazmat, fragile, temperature-controlled, oversized
- Required certifications — TWIC, tanker endorsement, etc.
Step 2: Route & Schedule
- Pickup location — Enter address or use the map pin
- Pickup window — Date and time range for pickup
- Delivery location — Destination address
- Delivery window — Required delivery date and time
- Stops — Add intermediate stops if needed (multi-stop loads)
Step 3: Pricing & Preferences
- Target rate — Set your desired price for the shipment
- Rate type — Flat rate or per-mile rate
- Bidding — Enable or disable carrier bidding
- Counter-offers — Allow rate negotiation
- Carrier preferences — Minimum rating, required experience, etc.
Step 4: Review & Publish
Review all entered information. You can save as a draft or publish immediately.
- Publish — Load goes live and carriers are notified
- Save draft — Complete and publish later
- Schedule — Set a future date to publish
Managing Posted Loads
After posting, you can:
- Edit — Modify details before a bid is accepted
- Pause — Temporarily hide the load from carriers
- Duplicate — Copy the load for repeat shipments
- Cancel — Remove the load (before a bid is accepted)
Tips for Getting Better Bids
- Provide detailed and accurate freight information
- Set competitive target rates based on market conditions
- Allow a flexible pickup window when possible
- Respond quickly to bids and counter-offers
- Maintain a strong shipper rating by paying on time
