Carrier verification process

What documents and credentials you need to get verified on EZShip.

Carrier Verification Process

All carriers must be verified before bidding on loads. This protects shippers and maintains platform quality.

Required Documents

To get verified, you'll need to submit:

  1. DOT Number — Active US Department of Transportation number
  2. MC Number — Motor Carrier authority number (if applicable)
  3. Certificate of Insurance (COI) — Current liability and cargo insurance
  4. W-9 Form — For tax reporting and payment processing
  5. Operating Authority — Active FMCSA authority status

Insurance Requirements

Minimum insurance coverage:

  • Auto liability — $1,000,000 minimum
  • Cargo insurance — $100,000 minimum
  • General liability — $1,000,000 minimum (recommended)

Verification Steps

  1. Submit documents — Upload all required documents through your account settings
  2. Automated verification — We check your DOT/MC numbers against the FMCSA SAFER database
  3. Document review — Our compliance team reviews your insurance and authority documents
  4. Background check — We verify your safety record and inspection history
  5. Approval — You'll receive an email confirmation when verified

Timeline

  • Automated checks — Instant
  • Document review — 1–2 business days
  • Total process — Usually completed within 2 business days

Maintaining Verification

Your verification status requires:

  • Active authority — Your DOT/MC must remain active
  • Current insurance — Upload updated COI before expiration
  • Safety compliance — Maintain an acceptable safety rating
  • No fraud flags — Accounts flagged for fraudulent activity are suspended

If Your Verification Is Denied

Common reasons for denial:

  • Inactive or revoked authority
  • Expired insurance certificates
  • Unsatisfactory safety rating
  • Incomplete documentation
