Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to protect your EZShip account.
What Is 2FA?
With 2FA enabled, logging in requires:
- Your password (something you know)
- A verification code (something you have)
Even if someone knows your password, they can't access your account without the second factor.
Setting Up 2FA
Option 1: Authenticator App (Recommended)
- Go to Settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication
- Click Enable 2FA
- Select Authenticator App
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
- Microsoft Authenticator
- 1Password
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app
- Click Verify and Enable
Option 2: SMS Verification
- Go to Settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication
- Click Enable 2FA
- Select SMS
- Confirm your phone number
- Enter the code sent to your phone
- Click Verify and Enable
Backup Codes
After enabling 2FA, you'll receive 10 backup codes. These are one-time use codes for when you can't access your authenticator:
- Save them securely — Print them or store in a password manager
- Each code works once — Used codes are invalidated
- Generate new codes anytime in Settings > Security
Logging In With 2FA
- Enter your email and password as usual
- When prompted, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app (or SMS)
- Optionally check Trust this device for 30 days to skip 2FA on trusted devices
Disabling 2FA
- Go to Settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication
- Click Disable 2FA
- Confirm with your password and a 2FA code
- 2FA is removed from your account
Warning: Disabling 2FA reduces your account security. We strongly recommend keeping it enabled.
Lost Access to Your 2FA?
- Use one of your backup codes to log in
- Contact support with your account details and identity verification
- Recovery takes 2–3 business days for security purposes
